CELEBRATING UNIVERSAL CHILDREN’S DAY | Our Commitment To Youth Empowerment

This November 20th, we join the global community in commemorating the United Nations' Universal Children's Day, a day that underscores the adoption of the Declaration and Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Convention sets out a number of children’s rights, including the right to education, to be protected from violence, not be discriminated against, and the right to have their views heard.

To celebrate this day, we have partnered with ‘’Kolektif Rivier Nwar’’, an NGO founded under the UNDP country program 2013-2016, which amongst other initiatives, provide special tutoring and mentoring to children and teenagers from challenging social backgrounds. This morning our CSR team had the privilege of engaging with a group of teenagers at the centre. We explored their aspirations and offered insights and guidance on potential career paths in Accountancy and Information Technology. It was a journey of discovery for these young minds, as we explored the skills and educational pathways that could turn their dreams into reality.

Our Legal Associate also took the opportunity of explaining to the teenagers how their rights are protected under the Children’s Act, which came into force in January last year and sensitize them on acts that can constitute offences with respect to use of Information Technology. We rounded off this enriching morning with lunch.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the NGO's dedicated staff for orchestrating this enriching session and to the incredible young participants. Their resilience and eagerness to learn, even during their school holidays, left a profound impact on our team.
